Amazon Sponsored Brands Strategy: Drive $1 Million in Sales (Part 6)

Your Amazon Sponsored Brands campaigns aren’t performing as well as you’d hoped. You’re spending money, but you’re not seeing the sales numbers you need to reach your goals. Maybe you’re even aiming for that elusive $1 million in annual revenue.
This is a common frustration for Amazon sellers. The reality is, Sponsored Brands can be a powerful tool, but only if you use the right strategy. In this article, we’ll break down the best Sponsored Brands strategies to drive sales and boost your Amazon business toward that $1 million mark. Let’s get started.
Understanding the Power of Sponsored Brands
Sponsored Brands ads appear prominently on Amazon’s search results pages, featuring your brand logo, a headline, and up to three products. They’re eye-catching and can drive significant traffic to your product listings or brand store. But many sellers don’t realize their full potential.
The key to success with Sponsored Brands lies in understanding where your ideal customers are in their buying journey and how to present your products in a way that grabs their attention.
Strategic Approaches to Sponsored Brands
Not all Sponsored Brands campaigns are created equal. Let’s explore some strategic approaches, each designed to target different stages of the customer journey.
Brand Awareness Campaigns: Building Recognition
These campaigns are all about getting your brand name out there. Target broad, high-volume keywords related to your product category.
- Focus: Impressions and reach.
- Bidding: Slightly lower bids, as the goal is visibility, not immediate conversions.
- Creative: Use a compelling headline that highlights your brand’s unique value proposition.
- Example: If you sell organic skincare, target keywords like “natural face moisturizer” or “eco-friendly skincare.”
Think of this as planting seeds. You’re not expecting an immediate harvest, but you’re building a foundation for future growth.
Product-Focused Campaigns: Driving Direct Sales
These campaigns target specific keywords related to your individual products. They’re designed to drive traffic to your product listings and generate immediate sales.
- Focus: Conversion rate and ACOS.
- Bidding: More aggressive bids, as you’re targeting buyers who are further along in the buying process.
- Creative: Showcase your best-selling or highest-rated products. Use a headline that highlights a key benefit or feature.
- Example: If you sell a Vitamin C serum, target keywords like “vitamin c serum for face,” “anti-aging serum,” or “brightening serum.”
The reality is, these campaigns require constant monitoring and optimization. You need to be tracking your ACOS closely and adjusting your bids accordingly.
Brand Store Campaigns: Showcasing Your Entire Catalog
These campaigns drive traffic to your Amazon Brand Store, allowing customers to explore your entire product catalog.
- Focus: Engagement and cross-selling.
- Bidding: Moderate bids, as you’re targeting customers who are already interested in your brand.
- Creative: Use a headline that invites customers to “Shop the [Your Brand] Store” or “Discover Our Collection.”
- Store Design: Ensure your brand store is well-organized and easy to navigate. Showcase your best-selling products and highlight any promotions or special offers.
This helps customers discover related products they might not have otherwise considered, boosting your overall sales.
Optimizing Your Sponsored Brands Campaigns
Once you’ve launched your campaigns, it’s essential to monitor their performance and make adjustments as needed. Here’s how:
Keyword Research: Finding the Right Terms
Use Amazon’s keyword research tools (like Brand Analytics) to identify high-volume, relevant keywords. Consider both broad and long-tail keywords.
- Broad Keywords: High search volume, but lower conversion rates.
- Long-Tail Keywords: Lower search volume, but higher conversion rates.
The key is to find the right balance between reach and relevance.
A/B Testing: Refining Your Creative
Experiment with different headlines, product images, and landing pages to see what resonates best with your target audience.
- Headlines: Test different value propositions, benefits, and calls to action.
- Product Images: Use high-quality images that showcase your products in the best possible light.
- Landing Pages: Send traffic to your product listings, brand store, or a custom landing page.
Let the data guide your decisions.
Bid Management: Maximizing Your ROI
Adjust your bids based on campaign performance. Increase bids for high-performing keywords and decrease bids for underperforming keywords.
- Manual Bidding: Manually adjust your bids based on your target ACOS.
- Automated Bidding: Use Amazon’s smart bidding algorithms to optimize your bids in real-time.
AdLabs can help simplify this process. It gives you the speed of bid automation while allowing you to remain in control, so each campaign aligns with your goals. **
Search Term Negatives: Eliminating Waste
Regularly review your search term reports and negate any irrelevant or low-performing search terms. This prevents your ads from showing to customers who aren’t likely to buy your products.
- Example: If you’re selling dog toys, you might want to negate search terms like “dog food” or “dog grooming.”
Remember, every dollar you save on wasted ad spend is a dollar you can reinvest in more effective campaigns.
Real-World Example
One AdLabs client, a seller of premium coffee beans, used a combination of brand awareness and product-focused Sponsored Brands campaigns to increase their sales by 35% in just 60 days. They focused on a specific set of keywords for their top 3 performing products, and it had an immediate impact.
- Before: ACOS of 38% and struggling to scale.
- After: ACOS reduced to 22%, with a significant increase in overall sales.
The key was their focus on optimizing their campaigns based on data.
Don’t Underestimate Sponsored Brands

By implementing the strategies outlined in this article, you can unlock their full potential and propel your business towards that $1 million revenue goal. It’s not about just spending money, it’s about spending it smart.
Key Discussion Points from the Episode
Here are some of the most valuable insights Andrew and Stephen shared during the full episode discussion:
Alexa, play that Amazon Ads podcast. Which one would you like to hear? The best one.
Okay, now playing that Amazon Ads podcast. This gentleman are completely changing their game. After listening to that Amazon Ads podcast, my ads are finally profitable.
So hopefully you’re catching on to what we’re doing here, where the goal is is hydration packets. You can see our keywords list here. It was a pretty tight list because there’s not as many variations of these types of keywords, but the broad and phrase, which we’ll pick up on those.
But yeah, these CPCs are crazy high. Yeah, I’m not going to have to compete there. Yeah, I’m not even sure if we’re going to get any clicks on this one.
It went away, but there was before we were creating this, there was there was a Amazon had like a forecast. And it said, we think you’ll get five clicks. So we could always turn it up.
Now I’m going to say one quick caveat here. This keywords related to your brand theme, never, ever use those. My goodness, I tested on two different accounts and I cannot cannot tell you how horrific the performance was.
They’re basically auto campaigns. So it’s, it’s basically like an auto campaign, which those are prone to, to garner a lot of clicks from not the most relevant stuff. You really don’t have a ton of control on it.
And while we love auto campaigns for sponsored products sponsored brands are way too costly to do that type of research. And you usually just can’t really afford it. You’re going to do a much better job of doing research with modified broad match.
And you know, if we just do like hydration packets modified broad, where at least carrots guaranteeing a certain level of relevancy with all of the possible searches that are coming through. And, and that’ll be a much better and more effective way to do research compared to just going with these keyword themes, which yeah, with the two of my clients that I tested on just like. The conversion rates were just the worst and the a causes was like 500%.
So we turned those off very quickly. So once again, negated all the brands, including our own from the theme got this ad up and running for this one. We’re not doing a carousel.
We could. I’m kind of just waiting on those other images. I don’t know.
Do you think there’ll be a big difference between just one image versus the carousel of images, Andrew?
